Decades of DonationsTaking a closer look at donations over the years.

Two cottages representing growth of Good Neighbor Village because of donations.

The very first donation to Good Neighbor Village was the Sandra Thompson Cottage. While Good Neighbor Village provided the materials, the Richmond Homebuilders Association brought in volunteers on a Thursday, and by that Sunday evening, an entire house had been built. The structure was turn-key and included carpets, power, plumbing and landscaping.

We have also received numerous donations from individuals, groups and organizations to help our cottages feel like home with new or gently used furniture, artwork, décor, kitchen appliances and more.

Over the years, many items and areas around our property have required updates and repairs. Fortunately, we have obtained help through donations and grants to repair broken doors and windows, repave our parking lot, install a new generator, and even fix the roof of one of our cottages.

We Work Hard & Play Hard

We would not be where we are today without our generous board of directors, as well as our family and friends. Each board member donates to Good Neighbor Village annually and often steps up to provide whatever we may need. Beyond the essentials, our donors have sponsored numerous events that directly benefit our residents’ happiness and quality of life.

We know we can always count on our donors to help us support our annual BBQ that hosts over one hundred people, supplying food and drink, along with event organization and preparation. Other, more small-scale events, like regular outings to the bowling alley or hosting ice cream socials, are also provided through the generosity of our community.

We look forward to continuing our traditions and expanding our events so Good Neighbor Village becomes an extension of the local community.
