Resident HomesA home away from home

Located in Henrico County, Virginia, Good Neighbor Village is comprised of 43.5 acres of land, most of which has been preserved and allocated for our future expansion. Our community is conveniently located near downtown Richmond, the Medical College of Virginia, and Richmond International Airport.

Resident homes include three cottages with the capacity to house 24 full-time residents and one respite resident. Each cottage includes separate bedrooms for the residents, as well as a large kitchen and living area for family-type activities.

We encourage our residents to make themselves at home by furnishing and decorating their rooms to fit their personalities. If needed, Good Neighbor Village can provide furnishings for a resident.

Sandra Thompson Cottage

Also known as Founders Cottage, our Sandra Thompson Cottage was the very first facility that established our organization. Built in 1992 by the Richmond Home Builders Association, it was originally designed as a four-bedroom, two-bath home with a room for respite residents, a staff bedroom, a large kitchen and a living area.

Over the years, we have added on to Founders Cottage to provide space for additional residents. It now features two more bedrooms and another bath to allow a total of six residents.

Remington Cottage

Our second cottage, Remington Cottage, was completed in 1999. The facility features the same amenities as the Sandra Thompson Cottage, with six bedrooms and three bathrooms, with the addition of a front porch, activities room and large rear deck.

Remington Cottage also has an extra room used for respite visits, allowing for a total of six residents and one respite resident.

Our third cottage was built in 2003. The Anne Carter Robins Cottage features the same amenities as the Remington Cottage, including multiple spaces for activities and a large outdoor deck.

The Anne Carter Robins Cottage is our largest facility with a total of eight bedrooms, allowing for eight residents to live comfortably.

Cottage Life

Each of the cottages at Good Neighbor Village is home to those who live there. The large living and kitchen areas allow for family-type activities and encourage social interaction among residents and staff.

All residents assist with light chores, such as house cleaning or meal preparation on a rotating basis. These activities are supervised by our staff, and they are encouraged to promote independence and life skills.

The additional acreage at Good Neighbor Village has been allocated for an enhanced Master Plan, which includes nine residential cottages as well as administrative and recreational facilities.

With your help and the help of others like you, we are looking forward to the future of Good Neighbor Village.
